After several years, a Grace Church tradition is returning!
La Posada is a Mexican Christmas custom that reenacts the journey of the Holy Family on their way to Bethlehem. Posada is a Spanish word meaning “inn” or “lodging”.
Several decades ago, former parishioner and renowned artist Provie Musso painted a beautiful rendition of Joseph leading the donkey carrying Mary as they made their way to Bethlehem. We are excited to once again share this La Posada art with our parish family.
Parishioners will sign up for a date during Advent to “host” the art depicting the Holy Family. A prayer to recite will be included with the art. Parishioners will exchange La Posada throughout Advent. You will set up a time with the parishioner directly after you on the sign-up sheet to exchange La Posada.
The parish family who signs up for the first date will receive La Posada during the 10:30 service on the first Sunday of Advent (November 30). The parishioner who receives La Posada on Tuesday, December 23, will bring it to the 4 p.m. Christmas Eve service on Wednesday, December 24.
