Stewardship of Creation Sunday is April 25
2010-04-22

The Stewardship of Creation celebration begins during the Sunday school hour when children explore Bible readings, songs, and participate in activities that reinforce the theme of recognizing and caring for all of God's creation.

The celebration continues during children's worship with a creation stewardship litany and songs for the Stewardship of Creation.

Hey Kids!
Here's a question and a challenge for you!

Question: Who is the patron saint of ecology?

**Be the first to tell Ms. Christina the answer and you will receive a prize during Sunday school this week!

Need a hint?

Answer: Saint Francis

May the patron saint of ecology
inspire us to have great respect and care
for all God’s creatures.

Stewardship of Creation Sunday was adopted during the 2008 Alabama Diocesan Convention to be observed on the last Sunday in April.

A Prayer for the Stewardship of Creation
Author Unknown

O God, we thank you for this earth, our home; for the wide sky and the blessed sun, for the ocean and streams, for the towering hills and whispering wind, for the trees and green grass.

We thank you for our senses by which we hear the songs of birds, and see the splendor of fiels of golden wheat, and taste autumn's fruit, and rejoice in the feel of snow, and smell the breath of spring flowers.

Grant us a heart opened wide to all this beauty; and save us from being so blind that we pass unseeing when even the common thorn-bush is aflame with your glory. Amen.
